What a refreshing night of music. It was nice to go to a show and be genuinely hyped about all 3 acts performing. No egos, no BS. Just a good show. Would have been better if the Factory had heat, but that's OK, Champions got it nice and warmed up for us!
Jeff Pianki - I'm biased at this point, but I think Jeff's got the most natural talent of anyone playing music in Michigan right now. Really, really good songs, amazingly strong and passionate voice, and very witty and fun in between.
Champions of Breakfast - A huge changeup from Jeff's melodic pace, Champions played the best set I had seen from them, transforming the Factory into a dance party (led by Jeff, dude was hilarious). Two dudes singing songs about dungeons and dragons and Nintendo, wearing costumes, and being generally silly.
Gold Motel - Very solid set, pretty much what I expected. Playing the 70's pop role well, I commented to John from COB that these guys are the perfect Chicago band. Like if you were watching a Law and Order like TV show based in a club in Chicago, you'd see Gold Motel playing in the background. It was good stuff.
Fun night overall, I wish I had a place like The Factory in Howell, we'd pack it every weekend!
